What makes good denim, and why selvedge matters

Most jeans today are woven on fast projectile looms. Selvedge denim is woven on older, narrower shuttle looms that make a tighter, denser fabric.

Rigid first, soft later

Unwashed denim feels stiff at first. After a few weeks it softens and creases where you move, giving you fades that are unique to you.

Wash your jeans as little as you can stand, and always inside out.
