How our guests helped plant 4,000 corals

In 2021 a warm-water event bleached much of our house reef. We started a coral nursery with marine scientists from the mainland, and invited guests to help.

Coral gardening

Fragments grow on underwater frames for a year before being planted on the reef.

The results

More than 4,000 corals have been planted, with a survival rate of 82%.

Every guest who plants a coral gets a photo of it a year later.
