Five teeth whitening myths, busted

Whitening is the most popular cosmetic treatment we offer, and the one with the most myths attached.

Myth 1: Charcoal toothpaste whitens teeth

Charcoal is abrasive. It can remove surface stain, but it also wears enamel, which makes teeth look more yellow over time.

Myth 2: Lemon and baking soda are natural whiteners

Acid softens enamel and baking soda scrubs it away. Please do not.

Myth 3: Whitening damages enamel

Professional peroxide gels are enamel-safe when used as directed.

If a whitening hack sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

Myth 4: Results are permanent

Expect one to three years, with top-ups.

Myth 5: Everyone gets sensitivity

Some do, briefly. A desensitising gel before and after helps a lot.
