What to wear for a family session

The question I am asked most before a family session is what to wear. The answer is simpler than you think.

Coordinate, do not match

Choose three or four colours that sit well together and let everyone wear a different mix. Matching white shirts look dated in a year.

Texture over pattern

Knits, linen and denim photograph beautifully. Busy logos and neon colours pull the eye away from faces.

If you would not wear it to a relaxed Sunday lunch, do not wear it to your session.

Bring comfortable shoes

We will walk, sit in the grass and chase toddlers. Heels can come out for a few frames at the end.
